Faile in Berlin
Amongst all street graffiti in Berlin, the works of one individual stand out particularly: Faile. I was lucky enough to move into a neighbourhood where many of his pieces could still be found. Next door, a giant entrance gate to an old, abandoned factory building was entirely covered by a beautiful Faile graffiti. I have seen this graffiti show up in various Berlin street art books in the past.
Some day in late 2008, contractors showed up and covered the gate in two layers of heavy led paint. They had no idea....
Well, there was another hidden set of Faile graffitis near the entrance to our house and every day after work, the faces in these artworks welcomed me home. Unfortunately somebody must have spotted them from the street and contacted our landlord, asking for permission to remove the scribbling. I hope they don't just hang in someone's bedroom.
